2011 - 2012 Grants

The Community Foundation of Johnson County (CFJC) l awarded more than $130,000 to 41 area nonprofit organizations.

The grant awards were presented at the Foundation’s annual luncheon meeting held Jan. 13, 2012, at the Iowa City Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center. RSM McGladery is the sponsor of the award luncheon.

The Foundation awarded grants totaling $19,372 to arts and culture; $37,174 to education; $19,694 to environment; and $54,542 to health and human services. Community Foundation contributors and community affiliates awarded an additional $27,297 to area nonprofit organizations.

Grant Committee chair Kristin Summerwill said the Foundation received 58 applications requesting more than $335,000 to fund programs. “We are so grateful to our many contributors and volunteers for their financial support and gifts of time that champion these very deserving organizations. Our community is growing stronger with their assistance.”

The Community Foundation also granted $29,797 in donor-advised and affiliate funds to each of the following: Coldren Fund – Elder Services, Table to Table and Visiting Nurse Association; Winokur Fund – Workplace Learning Connection; and Coralville Community Fund chose to fund The Iowa Children’s Museum, Coralville Public Library and Coralville Ecumenical Food Pantry.
