Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws were drafted with the help of Bob Downer, Tom Gelman and Sandy Boyd. |

Filed for non-profit status and tax identification. |

July 2000 |
Received first major gift from Dick Schwab. |

Non-profit status granted. |

December 2000 |
Office established at Chamber of Commerce location, with help from Selzer Werderitsch Associates. Office staffed with Executive Director. Organizational structure and short-range goals are defined. |

November 2001 |
Establish the Directors Fund in an effort to continue the granting after September 11, 2001 tragedy. |

December 2003 |
Grants totaling $ 24,000 awarded to community non-profit organizations, bringing total to $46,000 over three years. |

January 2005 |
Grants totaling more than $60,000 were awarded at the first Community Foundation Awards Luncheon where contributors and grant recipients shared what philanthropy means. |

January 2006 |
Grants totaling $108,000 brings the total giving to the community of $508,000 and assets of $3.2 million. |

June 2007 |
Total of assets including pledges is now more than $4.12 million, and total grants awarded since CFJC inception from these assets have surpassed $1 million dollars ($1,015,705) to community non-profit agencies. |

Through the dedicated efforts and hundreds of hours of discussion of a visionary group of community minded leaders, The Community Foundation of Johnson County continues to grow endowment assets and award community grants—continuing to work on the mission—building an endowment for our community. |
