The Arc of Johnson County Honors Sam and Ruth Becker by Opening New Fund with Community Foundation.

The Arc of Johnson County has created a new endowed fund within the Community Foundation of Johnson County and in so doing honored two local residents and long time supporters by naming the new fund the Sam and Ruth Becker Fund for the Arc of Johnson County.

“Establishment of this endowment fund will, over the coming years, provide a growing source of support for the Arc of Johnson County. Gifts made to this fund will grow, and in return support the growth of our local programs,” said Jeff Barta, immediate Past President of The Arc of Johnson County.

“The Arc of Johnson County chose to honor Sam and Ruth Becker, one of the many founding families who became involved with The Arc of Johnson County in 1959, in the naming of the new endowed fund. It is because of the dedication and support of families such as the Becker’s over the past 46 years that the agency has been able to continue to evolve in serving Johnson County area families. Though the Beckers’ names are on the fund, they each credit the many other families, who along with themselves initiated advocacy efforts and established the first services for persons with developmental disabilities in Johnson County,” said Barbara Bolton, Executive Director.
