When was the last time an opportunity like this presented itself?
Four Johnson County organizations recently received monetary grants from an organization known only as the Opportunity Fund. And the donors want to keep it that way.
Domestic Violence Intervention Program, Horace Mann Family Resource Center, North Liberty Family Resource Center and United Action for Youth were recipients of over $7500 in grants to their programs, made possible through a Charitable Gifting Fund from the Community Foundation of Johnson County and four donors who wish to remain anonymous.
“This has been a wonderful funding source, especially since our funds have been depleted at a very early date. We have filled so many gaps for clients with the use of this grant money and now we are anxious to make funds available to clients again,” said Sheryl A. Gilds, Director of Finance for Domestic Violence Intervention Program.
“United Action for Youth is deeply thankful for this grant to help needy families,” added Lynette Jacoby, Program Coordinator. “There has been so much diversity in the types of request for funds this year, especially from families beyond teen parent families and the Opportunity Fund has helped to fulfill that need,” she added.
